Scope: 5,000 s.f. remodel for an existing and thriving ophthalmologist practice.
Goal: Designing a space for an ophthalmology group with a large volume of patients while developing an optometry retail component within the same office layout.
Challenge: Attaining and procuring the required square footage in an existing medical office building, limited tenant improvement allowance and the building's chronic issues such as electrical and mechanical distribution deficiencies made this a challenging project.
Solution: By relocating one physician, re-using the practice's existing suite, and phasing construction, we were able to secure 5,000 s.f. By combining the waiting area, the optometry retail space and critical lighting we created an environment that is effective for both patient waiting and the retail business.
